Will the widget show on the live site?

No, it will only load and be shown on the staging domain.

What does closing an issue do?

Clicking the X on an issue hides it from the issues list on your browser. It will still be visible for other users who have not closed the issue. You can bring back the full list of detected issues by clicking Refresh.

Will the script hurt my site's performance?

The script will only load on the staging domain, so it will have no impact on the performance of your live site.
